Fairytales Onstage (6-9)
Create an ensemble of actors working together to dramatize classic and contemporary fantasy stories on stage! Students will explore their bodies, voice, mind, and imaginations to develop characters, transport themselves to magical worlds, and experiment a variety of methods to tell a story. This program combines movement, dance, song, visual arts, and drama as students develop their own original fairytales! Kinder Theater (5-7 year olds)
Acting in the theatre, to be believable, requires technique as well as talent. Sensory awareness, observation, imagination, concentration, movement and speech are essential skills in the development of stage characters that are both real and exciting. This class introduces the young actor to a variety of techniques and acting processes. Each week we explore a new and challenging aspect of creating a character using our imaginations and stories from plays.

Create A Play - Summer Camp at Maryland Hall
This Summer School program offers elementary school students the chance to wear many theatrical hats: playwright, collaborator, actor, and designer. Students jump into the world of storytelling as they develop an original play. They work to create dynamic characters with clear objectives, solve problems creatively, and perform their final product. Students work together to create sets and characterizations that support their imagination as their words become reality. Invite your family to the final sharing of your creation!
Summer school classes are taught by accredited teachers with a B.A or Masters degree in theatre, have teaching experience, and work in the professional world of theater. We welcome you to the Best Summer Camp for Theatre in Maryland!

Create a Play
Wear theatrical hats in this Compass Rose favorite! Students dive into the creative process as they act as playwright, collaborator, actor, designer, and developer of their own original play. They work as an ensemble to develop the story, perform dynamic characters, make design choices, and perform the final product for a live audience!

Kinder Theater
Young actors will use their imaginations as their guide on exciting adventures to a variety of exotic lands and faraway locations! Swing from vines in the jungle, hunt for treasure on an island, and soar through space in a rocket ship! Students use classic and contemporary stories to navigate their explorations through the use of creative dramatics, movement, song, and visual arts. Students will create their own original dramatic journeys! Every day is a different adventure! The class culminates in a sharing of favorite from their week at Compass Rose Theater for family and friends!
